Over 50 Years of Cub Scouting History

Pack 57 is one of the largest and most active units in the Three Rivers District. It was first chartered during the late 1950s by Riverside Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. During the 1960s, the Pack moved to St. Peters Episcopal Church in Norfolk and, in the 1970s, to De Baun Baptist Church in Chesapeake. The Pack 57 of today moved to Great Bridge Presbyterian Church in July 1987 with 23 Scouts and 9 leaders and has grown into a Pack consisting of seven Scout dens (usually with 8-12 boys each) and numerous adult volunteer leaders. Most of the boys in our Pack are students from Great Bridge Primary, Cedar Road Elementary, and Great Bridge Intermediate schools. Since 1987 Pack 57 Cub Scouts have earned almost 100 honors and streamers while participating in a multitude of District and Council events including earning Quality Unit Twenty years in a row. Most importantly, Cub Scouts within Pack 57 have consistently achieved Cub Scouting's highest award the Arrow of Light. The Pack established Den activities and meetings are held on Monday evenings throughout the year and once a month all the Scouts and their family members gather for a Pack Meeting in the church hall. During the course of the year, Pack 57 also conducts a number of major activities such as the Blue and Gold Banquet, the Pinewood Derby, Summer Camp, Day Camp, various fundraisers, service projects, social activities, environmental improvement projects, competitive events, and -- at the end of the school year -- a Family Campout. With over 50 years of Scouting history completed, Pack 57 remains as a lasting tribute to...all those who have lived the dream of making the difference in the of life a boy!
